Dallmer and Design

From workshop to a top architect brand for building drainage

Dipl. Ing. Johannes Dallmer, Dipl. Btrw. Yvonne Dallmer, Dipl. Ing. Harry Bauermeister

From workshop to a top architect brand: that would be a pretty accurate description of the development of our company in just a few words. Although we should add that this trend has accelerated dramatically over the last two decades. In the years prior to that – Dallmer was established in 1913 as an engraving house – no matter how innovative they were, our products fell under the category "installation material".

So what's changed? The simple bathroom has evolved into a wellness spa. With increasing individualisation and a growing desire for personal fulfilment, but also against the backdrop of rising affluence, people have begun to invest more heavily in their living space. Dallmer offers pioneering drainage solutions for these new bathroom landscapes. Whether you are looking for a shower channel that adds a touch of distinction or one that is cleverly discrete – we have the solution to create the all-round perfect bathroom or spa, showcased by our shower channels, with which we have created a whole new category of drain fittings. CeraLine, CeraNiveau and Zentrix are multi-award-winning design products that can hold their own next to any tap fitting, bathroom furniture or other accessories.

Our motto is: perfect products are created when outstanding functionality, high-quality materials and great design come together. In this context, we are not just thinking of the bathroom, but also of the overall drainage installations required both in and around the property. We develop sanitary technology that significantly improves drainage in terms of convenience, value and safety. Covering the whole gamut of drainage requirements, our products for interiors range from shower channels for level-access showers, modular systems for floor drains, to fire and sound-insulating structural elements, basin traps and air-admittance valves right through to sensor-controlled anti-flooding valves, and our products for outdoors from floor drains to roof drains, complete with suitable fire insulation systems.

Our highly innovative solutions stand out from the crowd thanks to their multi-award-winning designs, flawless workmanship and advanced technology. It is obvious at a glance how much love, care and attention to detail has gone into their creation.  So please take a closer look at our product range and discover for yourself the highlights of our product range that covers your home from the cellar to the roof.

Stay tuned! We're always full of surprises.

History

Founding years
These days, Dallmer is renowned as the expert for drainage technology, but it all began quite differently.
Johannes Dallmer Snr initially established an engraving workshop...

How it all began: the first Dallmer workshop

How it all began: the first Dallmer workshop

1913
Founding of the Dallmer company by master engraver Johannes Dallmer Snr in Neheim, now Arnsberg, Sauerland. The company produced stamps, dies and embossing tools and carried out fine engraving on lamps.

1950
Takeover and continuation of the company by Johannes Dallmer's son Helmuth Dallmer (2nd generation), born in 1923. Production of, among other things, printing rollers for wall coverings and induction-hardened steel rollers for the production of doilies

1957
Production of the first plastic items, such as handles, knobs and plinths for bread and roll roasters. The product range is then expanded to include the manufacture of tubes, connectors, trap inserts and floor drains, initially made with polyethylene, later with polypropylene.

How we became what we are today
Dallmer has already developed extensive expertise in the manufacture of a wide range of plastic products.
At the start of the 1960s, the decision is made to change the company's core business for good:
Dallmer very successfully switches to drainage technology.

1963
Dallmer's core business is now sanitary technology, first industrially manufactured floor drains and plastic drain sets.

1964
Construction of the current company premises in Arnsberg-Hedringen. The number of employees quickly grows to more than 100, expansion of equipment and machinery and sales in Germany and abroad.

1977
Dipl.-Ing. Johannes Dallmer (3rd generation) joins the company. Johannes begins his career as a qualified engraver and then completes an engineering degree majoring in plastic process engineering, thus forging a link between the historical beginnings of the company and its future in the drainage industry. As a technophile engineer, he also brings along his passion for large, high-precision machines. Because one thing is clear: high-quality products can only be produced with high-quality production tools.

Foray into the world of clogs
Helmuth Dallmer's greatest passion was horses. When his horse fell ill with
laminitis, it was a formative experience, sending him on a long heart-felt search for
an animal-friendly alternative to the horseshoe.

1977
The Dallmer clog goes into production. All models adhere to the following principle: glue instead of nails! They are also all made of plastic instead of iron. Both of which meet the needs of horses that go barefoot or have hoof problems.

Evolution
The basic structure of our product range is long-established: technically mature and well-designed solutions for good
drainage both in and around the property. We are continuously expanding our offering, whereby
our products are a perfect blend of design and functionality – and the results show that we are on the right track:
products from Dallmer – technologically and aesthetically superior.

1986
Publication of the first product catalogue containing 14 product groups ranging from tubular traps to roof and balcony drains to plastic flooring.

1988
Dallmer receives its first design awards. Many more awards will follow. Some ten years later, Dallmer triggers a worldwide trend with its design grating.

These new drains make it much easier for installation engineers to install level-access showers, allowing them to dispense with conventional shower trays. The level-access shower begins its triumphant sweep through the bathroom world.

Growth
Dallmer continues to expand – geographically, technically and in terms of human resources. We open new agencies abroad,
invest in new production facilities, launch new innovations on the market
which, above all, will forever change the face of drainage level-access showers,
and management welcomes two new members.

With CeraLine, Dallmer ushers in a new era in drainage for level-access showers.

100 years of Dallmer
A lot has happened in the last 100 years: we have completely changed our core business, given design the level of priority
it deserves and revolutionised the drainage of level-access showers.
And we see that as our incentive to continue what we do well for the next 100 years – no resting on our laurels for us.

2013
Dallmer has now been established for 100 years and is more active than ever. Of all the innovations, the CeraWall drainage systems are attracting particular attention. That is because it is the first surface drainage system to separate the shower channel from the drain and enable surface drainage.

Investment in the future
In recent years, we have invested more than 10 million euros in the future of our company,
in order to ensure all-round growth and further development. We have developed planning and action strategies that
are fit for purpose, not only in the present, but also in the future.

Dallmer floor plan

Planning for tomorrow today.

2015
Due to the sharp rise in demand, Dallmer is expanding its premises: we have bought an adjacent 20,000 m2 piece of land for the purpose of building a new shipping and logistics centre. This will give Dallmer an additional 4,000 m hall space with a 50 m long bridge connecting the old and new hall.

2016
Dallmer has acquired three machines for its metal production; two milling machines and a water-jet cutter The machines will be operated by five new employees who were hired specifically for this purpose.
